Elizabeth Winlo won the Fashions on the Field held at the Toodyay Cup and has also now won a place in the WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field Wildcard Semi-Final at Perth Racing on Saturday, December 2!
The winner of the Semi-Final will then compete against the other nine Finalists, with the winner receiving a trip for two to London to attend Royal Ascot with Motive Travel, $10,000 spending money thanks to TABtouch, and more!
WA Country Cups caught up with Ms Winlo to talk about country racing and racing fashion, as well as the upcoming Final, here is what she had to say:
1. What do you love about country racing? I love that it’s a major social event for the community and an opportunity to meet new people. The atmosphere is always relaxed and the scenery on the way to the track is beautiful.
2. How long have you been going to the races for and what are your favourite memories? I’ve been going ever since I can remember. One of my favourite memories is going to the track with my grandfather. We’d look at the horses in the mounting yard and I’d pick one with my favourite colours for him. I’d get an ice cream and then watch our horse come last!
3. Why do you enter Fashions on the Field? I just love it. Racewear is so different to any other style – it’s much more refined and elegant. It’s such a thrill getting up on stage and showing what your personal style is.
4. Describe your style? It can be fluid but I’m always drawn back to classic silhouettes – full skirts, structured pieces and polished accessories.
5. What tips do you have for ladies entering Fashions on the Field? Just get up there and have fun! I’ve met some absolutely beautiful women (inside and out!) through FOTF so even if you don’t walk away with a sash you’ll make some new friends to enjoy the day with.
6. What are some of your favourite things about Toodyay? Toodyay Cup of course! It’s always a great day out, especially the dash for cash and the rolling hills which backdrop the track are spectacular.
7. What does it mean to you to be going to Ascot to compete in the Wildcard semi-final? It’s so exciting, there was a lot of competition this year so I’m humbled to be in the top three. I’m looking forward to a great weekend celebrating country racing.
