Rockingham Rugby Union Football Club awarded Community TAB Sports Grant
26 November, 2018
Rockingham Rugby Union Football Club was awarded a $4000 sports grant from Community TAB as one of two groups to receive a grant this month, selected from over 300 sporting clubs that applied from around WA.
Community TAB has been awarding at least one grant each month to a local sporting club as part of an ongoing commitment to giving back to the WA community by supporting sport and recreation in WA.
Rockingham Rugby Union Football Club President Ken Darvell said the grant is an amazing opportunity for the Club.
“For all the members and supporters of our game, having these extra funds allows us to deliver a more efficient program at our club for the future,” Mr Darvell said.
“We will soon be celebrating our 50th anniversary which would not have happened without the support shown by our community.”
“With a diverse member and supporter base we have created that second home for the whole family to enjoy the game we love.”
CEO Richard Burt from Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA), which funds the initiative through Community TAB, said RWWA recognises the importance of grassroots sports throughout WA.
“We understand that it takes time and resources to keep a club such as the Rockingham Rugby Union Football Club running so we are pleased to be giving the opportunity to help relieve this burden on the club,” Mr Burt said.
“RWWA has been supporting the WA sport and recreation industry for many years, providing millions of dollars over 10 years to the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) and more recently, through the Community TAB Program.”
Community TAB has been giving back to the WA community since 2014 through major partnerships, state-wide fundraising programs and sponsorship of prestigious events.
