Thoroughbred – Stewards Inquiry – Jockey Jarrad Noske (PADDY’S SHADOW) - Race 4, the TABTOUCH PLATE (1500m) at Ascot on Saturday, 20 January 2018.
RWWA Thoroughbred Stewards today concluded the adjourned inquiry from the above race in which Jockey Jarrad Noske was charged with an offence of improper riding under ARR137(a), the particulars of the charge being:
Approaching the 150m, Jockey J Noske intentionally placed PADDY’S SHADOW to the outside of STATE PROSECUTOR (W Pike) and to the inside of LUCKY ROAR (J Brown) where there was insufficient room in a deliberate attempt to force a clear passage resulting in his mount racing tightly with LUCKY ROAR and making contact with its hindquarters for a number of strides causing it to become unbalanced.
Further evidence was taken from Jockey Jarrad Noske and following consideration of all of the evidence, Stewards determined that his actions were deliberate with the intent of forcing a clear passage after his mount was held up and therefore found him guilty of the charge.
Jockey J Noske was subsequently suspended from riding in races for a period of twenty-seven (27) days from midnight 20 January 2018 to midnight 16 February 2018. When assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the following matters including the seriousness of the charge, circumstances of the incident, that this was his first offence of improper riding, past penalties for improper riding offences and the need for the penalty to achieve a deterrent effect both specific and general.
