Adam Durrant is back in the hunt for the Perth trainers’ premiership after a double at Belmont on Saturday.
After failing to add to his tally on Wednesday, Durrant bounced back to take a share of the lead when Enticing Star and Come Play With Me recoded impressive victories.
Enticing Star extended her unbeaten sequence to seven and is in the paddock to prepare for the Ascot carnival later in the year.
Come Play With Me, a Blackfriars gelding, is in line to extend his winter campaign in the Aquanita Stakes (2000m) on July 7.
“The horse (Come Play With Me) did a good job,” Durrant said.
“You have to remember he is only a three-year-old who carried 58.5kg.
“It takes a pretty good young horse to do that.
“I thought it was as good if not better than his last win to be honest.
“He will go to the next three-year-old staying races if he gets through the run.”
Enticing Star and Come Play With Me advanced Durrant to 57 wins and a share of the lead with Grant and Alana Williams.
Durrant, who took year off last season to go travelling, is out to claim his seventh win as leading Perth’s trainer.
Shaun McGruddy opened the meeting on talented two-year-old Special Reward and ended it guiding home One Short.
McGruddy shared the spoils with William Pike who took his tally to 111 wins after combining with Enticing Star and Come Play With Me.
