A man of many talents, Barrie Quick has had an influence in many aspects of Australian sport.
Quick has spent the last 35 years in the media industry. He managed to engineer the only 24/7 sports radio station in Australia and is currently the Commercial Director of 6PR.
As a young man, Quick was also a promising WAFL star.
All the while, Quick held onto his passion for horses through his ownership of many quality thoroughbreds.
With the Magic Millions Yearling Ssale set to take Belmont Park in a months’ time (20th and 21st of February), the successful owner and breeder took a moment to talk to TABRadio’s The Sports Daily.
“I think that the diversification of ownership now through syndications like that really does pave the way for people of all different walks of life.” Quick said.
“People come from all around the country and all around the world with ownership.
“I think that’s a great thing because as I said it does bring people together.”
Quick has owned an impressive handful of thoroughbreds including the likes of Hidden Wonder, City Ruins and Peeking Night.
His most recent champion, Flying Jess, took out the 2017 Magic Millions 3-year-old Guineas as an outside contender.
“There was a degree of confidence given the fact that Winx wasn’t involved and Black Caviar.
“As you know I did say to you that we couldn’t win.
“I was reasonably confident that we could run top 10, but that’s probably about it.
“It was a wonderful, wonderful experience!”
