With a young family at their feet, Greg and Skye Bond would have had to wrap up their milestone celebrations at an age appropriate hour on Monday Night.
The husband and wife team brought home more than just a double from Pinjarra when Gaz Wannabet stormed home to take out the last, hitting their 1000th winner milestone in style.
“It came along a bit quicker than we thought, but we’ve got a good team of horses and a good team of people. We seem to knock them out pretty regularly.” Greg Bond told TABRadio’s The Sports Daily.
The husband and wife team will look to increase their impressive tally from 1002 with their thirteen chances at Gloucester Park tonight.
Two of which are ready to tackle the $450 000 Group One, TABtouch WA Pacing Cup.
Our Jimmy Johnstone is listed to be driven by stable reinsman Ryan Warwick in the Pacing Cup. Warwick has driven an impressive 388 winners for the Bond duo, but will have his work cut out for him with an undesirable barrier seven.
“(The barrier draw) hurt from his chances point of view. The barrier draw for the whole race has probably opened up more questions than answers.
“He’s proven at this level as a consistent horse.
“We’re not sure what we’ll do tonight. There’s plenty that will be happening early and inside us so I will have to leave that with Ryan.”
The P Forty Seven gelding is currently paying $20 on the TABTouch market.
Their second chance is Delightful Offer. The 5-year-old Bettors Delight gelding will be driven by Ryan Bell. With a far kinder barrier draw than his stable-mate, Delightful Offer will start from gate three will be sitting at $34 on the TABTouch market.
“He deserved his chance in that race (last start).
“Tonight, even with a nice quite trip he’s not necessarily going to win the race, but I can’t see why he can’t be in the cut up again.”
Their biggest fan, daughter Allira will no doubt be on the sidelines tonight cheering mum and dad on.
