Miller Two Year Olds Bubble Along

Simon Miller’s continued his stranglehold on Perth juvenile races when Double Bubble bolted in at Belmont on Wednesday.
Double Bubble, on debut, became Miller’s 15th two-year-old winner this season when scoring in the Tabtouch Plate (1000m).
The Unencumbered filly, ridden by William Pike, sprinted clear at the 100m and defeated her next rival by an easy 1 ½ lengths.
Double Bubble joined Driftstar, Valour Road (2) , Amelia’s La Bout, Lady Cosmology, Market Ruler (4), Global Reset, Shapita and Special Reward (3) as Miller’s two-old winners in 2017-2018, more than any other trainer.
Valour Road won the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) and Listed Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic (1200m), joining Lucky Street (2015) and Lucy Mae (2017) as the only three horses to completed the double.
Lady Cosmology took out the Listed Supremacy Stakes (1000m) when leading earlier in March while Market Ruler holds the stable’s best strike rate after four wins from six starts including her past three in succession.
Double Bubble, a $55,000 yearling, entered her first-up assignment off the back of two successful trials, but was largely unwanted by punters.
Despite Miller’s stranglehold on two-year-races this season and with William Pike aboard, Metro Boy held market dominance as the $1.80 favourite.
Double Bubble at $7 and Universal Appeal, rated an $8 chance, were the only other runners in the field of 11 in single figures.
“I thought she would run in the first two, but the favourite had trialled really good,” Miller said.
“Her work Saturday leading in was good,”
Double Bubble gave favourite punters another hit after Kakadu won the Amelia Park Lamb Plate (1000m) earlier.
