Grant and Alana Williams gained a narrow break over chief rival Adam Durrant in the trainers’ premiership after the anticipated win of Galaxy Star at Belmont on Saturday.
The gun mare made the step-up to 2000m look easy when she defeated Dudemanbro by 1 ½ lengths and extend her imposing record to eight wins from 10 starts.
Owner-breeder Bob Peters says the Redoute’s Choice mare will head straight to the paddock before he maps out an Ascot carnival campaign in the summer.
The Williams combination would have been rueing their chance for a double after hot favourite got Stageman got held up before running a luckless second.
Jockey William Pike continued his winning ways with a double, leading on Market Ruler in the opening race and charging late with Galaxy Star.
He shared the riding spoils with Jarrad Noske and Lucy Warwick. Warwick landed her second feature win in a week when aboard Mr Motown in the Beaufine Stakes.
