Racing Code Committees
Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA), in consultation with the Eligible Bodies of each racing code, has been developing a new Governance model for the racing industry through the formation of new individual code sub-committees of the RWWA Board.
Thoroughbreds
The relevant sub-committee for the thoroughbred industry will be known as the Thoroughbred Racing Committee (TRC).
At its meeting held Monday, 27 November 2017 the RWWA Board formally appointed the members of the TRC, subject to probity checks, as nominated by the respective Eligible Bodies.

The key responsibility of the TRC is to consider and make recommendations in conjunction with RWWA for endorsement by the Board on, but not limited to, the following matters:
- Development and annual review of the strategic plan for thoroughbred racing.
- Identification and planning of thoroughbred racing industry infrastructure requirements.
- In consultation with racing clubs, the establishment of policies for stake money levels, race conditions and programs.
- Commercial exploitation of thoroughbred racing product including media rights agreements.
- Race fixturing policy and approval of annual race dates.
- Strategies and policies for thoroughbred industry planning, promotion, marketing, sponsorship.
- Strategies and policies for thoroughbred industry training programs for apprentice jockeys and other racing industry training requirements.
- Strategies and policies for thoroughbred equine welfare programs.
- Strategies and policies for racing industry issues such as insurance, broadcasting of race meetings and the establishment and maintenance of training facilities.
- National rule amendments referred by Racing Australia to RWWA for industry consultation. For clarity, this excludes any rules specific to integrity matters that Racing Australia has not made a request to RWWA to consult with industry on.
Harness
The relevant sub-committee for the harness industry will be known as the Harness Racing Committee (HRC).
The RWWA Board formally appointed the members of the HRC on 7 December 2017, subject to probity checks, as nominated by the respective Eligible Bodies.
