In December 2016, Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA), incorporating WA Country Cups and Community TAB, launched the 2017 WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field with even bigger stakes up for grabs for this year’s Final.
This Sunday the initiative will be making its’ way to Bunbury for the South West Regional Heat, which will be held at the Bunbury Turf Club’s Ladies Day.
The WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field is a state-wide racing fashion competition, open to fashionistas from all over WA, and consists of nine regional heats held at major country race meetings across the State.
The winner of each regional heat is invited to compete in the WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field Final to be held at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 2nd December 2017.
The winner of this year’s Final will take home a trip for two to London with Motive Travel, to attend arguably the most famous racing carnival in the world, Royal Ascot.
Attended by Her Majesty, the Queen of England, not only does Royal Ascot attract some of the world’s finest racehorses such as the likes of Black Caviar, but it is also well known for being a spectacle of fashion and style.
To add to the prize pool the winner will also receive $10,000 spending money thanks to TABtouch, as well as a voucher for popular Western Australian handbag and accessory label, Jessica Bratich.
In addition to the nine regional heats, any winner of a Western Australian regional Fashions on the Field competition, is able to enter into an online ‘wildcard’ competition, for a chance to score a spot in the Final.
“Fashion is known as being synonymous with the racing industry and in particular Fashions on the Field competitions have become entrenched within Australian thoroughbred racing,” said Executive Manager Racing Marketing and Communications, Charlotte Mills.
“Country racing plays an integral part in the Western Australian racing industry, with 49 out of 51 race clubs being located in regional areas, therefore it is important that we continue to support and promote regional racing and its social aspects through initiatives such as the WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field.”
Local girl, Ainslie Jackson, was the South West Regional Heat winner for 2016, and represented the region in the 2016 WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field Final.
