Swift Sis To Launch Hannans Campaign

Craig Wright is hoping Swift Sis can pick up from where she left off last campaign when she marks her return to racing at Kalgoorlie on Sunday.
Swift Sis has been a genuine surprise packet and after stringing together four straight wins at Esperance and Kalgoorlie ran two cracking races in Perth.
Facing a steep rise in class, Swift Sis responded to the challenge when she ran a half-length second to Dainty Tess in the Marjorie Charleson Classic (1200m) at Ascot.
A fortnight later she filled third placing behind Mizlecki and Necklet, two of Fred Kersley’s top three-year-olds in the Listed Sheila Gwynne Classic (1400m).
Wright says if Swift Sis, a daughter of Husson Lightning, continues to show improvement she will target Kalgoorlie’s premier sprint later this year.
“It’s been a super effort to win at Esperance and Kalgoorlie and perform so well in town,” Wright said.
“I’ve always thought she had a fair amount of ability, but she is making solid progression through the ranks.
“If all goes well and according to plan in this campaign then she will be aimed at the Hannans Handicap.
“That’s the path and ambition we are planning, but we will know a lot more after she returns on Sunday.”
Swift Sis, who has six wins and two placings from 16 starts, launches her winter campaign in the North End Tavern Handicap (1200m).
Jockey Lucy Warwick gains the mount, replacing Dan Staeck, who is currently based in Melbourne.
Swift Sis, to lump 59.5kg, has drawn barrier three in a field of six starters.
“The weight is a concern, but she is forward enough to run a cheeky race,” Wright said.
“Her work has been good and whatever she does first-up she will improve on.
“Senorita Bonita (56.5kg) looks well weighted and will be hard to beat.”
