The Future Is Bright For Mr Delegator: Robertson
Mr Delegator is a raw exciting gelding with a lot to learn, but he is laden with ability and has a promising future ahead of him, according to trainer, Tiarnna Robertson.
The son of Maschino caught the eye at Belmont on Wednesday when at his first attempt over 2100m he won the Seacorp Handicap.
Underling staying potential, the four-year-old, under jockey Peter Knuckey, fought on strongly in the straight to chase down Uncle Lino and win by a ½ length.
Robertson said there is more improvement to come from Mr Delegator, a winner in two of five races.
“He is a real raw horse,” Robertson said.
“Everything he is doing is on natural ability.
“He has got so much improvement.
“He is still immature and is a big gangly baby.
“In his trackwork and race day he really doesn’t know what he is doing.
“When he puts it together he will be a really nice horse for the future.
“I will have to discuss with the owners, but he could do with a freshen-up now.
“He could even race over a staying trip in the summer at Ascot.”
Meanwhile David Harrison’s patience paid dividends when the well-backed Ration Aly made a winning return in the Crown Perth Handicap (1200m).
Having her first start in 406 days, the My Admiration mare came with a big run from second-last position to defeat Amasenus by one length.
The lightly-raced four-year-old improved her record to two wins from three career starts.
“She has always shown she has the ability,” Harrison said.
“We just had to give her a bit of time.
“I thought she would run well on her work and trial.
“She is a big strong girl with a bit of attitude.
“The way she went you would think she’ll win on a Saturday.”
