TABtouch Masters Nominations
Nominations for the 2020 Tabtouch Masters at Ascot were released on Monday, with interstate representation strong despite the threat of Covid-19 travel restrictions.
Several of Australia’s leading stables have nominated runners for Perth’s signature races: the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes, Group 1 Railway Stakes, Group 1 Kingston Town Classic and Group 2 WA Guineas.
Headlining the Winterbottom Stakes, Perth’s premier sprint race over 1200m, is the Chris Waller-trained Nature Strip, recently crowned the 2019-20 Australian Horse of the Year.
The six-year-old, a winner of over half-a-million dollars in prizemoney from his 14 wins, is a contender in Saturday’s The Everest, the world’s richest race at Randwick.
Last year’s Winterbottom Stakes hero, Hey Doc, is in line to repeat history after being nominated by father and son team, Tony, and Calvin McEvoy.
Anders, a winner of the Listed Rosebud and the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes from his past two starts, is one six Winterbottom Stakes nominations for Ciaron Maher & David Eustace.
Local star Fabergino has been nominated by trained Tiarnna Roberston.
Of 80 Railway Stakes nominations, 23 are from interstate with Best Of Days, Cascadian, Gaulois, Kementari and Ranier from the Cummings team.
Gailo Chop, now a 10-year-old, has been nominated by Matthew Williams for the Railway and Kingston Town, a race he finished second in last year.
Dual Group 1 hero Arcadia Queen, trained by Perth’s Grant & Alana Williams, has been entered for the Kingston Town Classic, the race she won as a three-year-old.
