Scorpions Netball Club awarded Community TAB Sports Grant
Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s (RWWA) Community TAB has awarded Scorpions Netball Club of Bayswater with a $1,000 sports grant.
Scorpions Netball Club will use the grant to develop a Youth Mentor Program, building a framework for players to be mentored to coach, umpire or become committee members.
Scorpions Netball Club President Laura Moulton said the funding will assist the club’s efforts in supporting its members to gain transferable skills they can use outside of the court.
“Netball and sport in general play an important role in the community by allowing people to connect with others on common ground,” Ms Moulton said.
“Like other clubs, Scorpions relies on passionate volunteers who dedicate their time to provide opportunities for people to play netball and receiving this additional funding will give our volunteers greater flexibility in providing these opportunities.”
“We are grateful for the support of Community TAB and are looking forward to implementing our mentoring program in 2021.”
RWWA CEO Ian Edwards said the organisation recognises the importance of grassroots sport in Western Australia.
“We are honoured to be supporting local sporting clubs to ensure they can continue to play a vital role in their community,” Mr Edwards said.
“Grassroots sporting clubs not only provide important benefits for individual wellbeing, but they also bring people from the local community together.”
Applications are open for all Western Australian sporting clubs, allowing communities from all corners of the State to apply for financial support.
Community TAB will be providing two sporting clubs with a grant each month, with applications able to be submitted here.
