Forrestfield Teeball Association awarded Community TAB Sports Grant
Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s (RWWA) Community TAB has awarded Forrestfield Teeball Association with a $2,000 sports grant.
The club will use the grant towards development programs for members as well as purchasing new uniforms, with previous uniforms to be donated to local Indigenous clubs for use.
Forrestfield Teeball Association President Mark Baker said the club has a culture focussed on fun, fairness, family involvement and fundamental skills.
“We are an inclusive club aimed at children under 13 years of age and at all levels of abilities, structuring our games and training around giving a sense of value to everyone and allowing them to develop at their own speed,” Mr Baker said.
“The importance of fundamental skills has not been underestimated, with skill development aimed at easy transition to multiple sports, not just baseball or softball, and this has seen great success with members not only in baseball and softball but in football, cricket, netball and cheerleading.”
“Individuals transitioning through our club have used the team ethics, fundamental skill development and sportsmanship learnt at our club to become high achievers in their chosen sporting code.”
“Receiving this grant allows the club to offer more programs aimed at a larger age group, which will encourage and develop members’ fundamental skills while maintaining its focus on fun and family involvement. It also enables the club to invest in new uniforms that have not been updated in over 10 years.”
RWWA Chief Executive Officer Ian Edwards said the organisation recognises the importance of grassroots sport in Western Australia.
“We are honoured to be supporting local sporting clubs to ensure they can continue to play a vital role in their community,” Mr Edwards said.
“Grassroots sporting clubs not only provide important benefits for individual wellbeing, but they also bring people from the local community together.”
Applications are now open for all Western Australian sporting clubs, allowing communities from all corners of the State to apply for financial support.
Community TAB will be providing two sporting clubs with a grant each month, with applications able to be submitted here.
