Own the Dream 2021 Launches at Ascot Racecourse
The 2021 Own the Dream series kicks off this Saturday at Ascot Racecourse, launching a month of events for teams competing to win the ultimate racing prize of a share in their very own thoroughbred racehorse.
Registered teams will come together on the track to celebrate the start of a thrilling four-week experience of valuable insights into the thoroughbred racing industry.
With 70 per cent of the registered entrants for this year’s competition not currently owners of a racehorse, Own the Dream will allow for an exclusive and in-depth introduction to racehorse ownership for these entrants.
Own the Dream Ambassador Brittany Taylor will host the series alongside West Coast Eagles Player Brad Sheppard.
“I cannot wait to meet all the teams registered in this year’s competition and to showcase this great industry, which is such an important part of so many people’s lives,” Miss Taylor said.
“Through Own the Dream we are able to share the excitement that racehorse ownership brings and give people unparalleled access to the individuals, teams and horses that make racing in Western Australia so special.”
“The next few weeks will bring so many fun and unique experiences that some of the teams may have never been able to be a part of before, and that’s what it’s all about, breaking down the barriers to racehorse ownership and showing people that anyone can be involved.”
Four events will follow the launch including a racing insight tour, trackwork breakfast, race day ownership experience and masterclass.
The sixth, and final, event will culminate the series as the grand finale at the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale on February 15, where three lucky teams will each secure a share in a yearling.
The prizes for the Own the Dream competition include:
- 1st Place: $10,000 share in a yearling purchased at the 2021 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale, plus two years of training fees.
- 2nd Place: $7,000 share in a yearling purchased at the 2021 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale, plus $7,500 in training fees.
- 3rd Place: $5,000 share in a yearling purchased at the 2021 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale, plus $3,500 in training fees.
All eligible teams who are present at the grand finale will also receive a $1,500 voucher to use towards the purchase of a share in a Westspeed Platinum bred thoroughbred sold at the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale.
The Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale is regarded as one of the best producing auctions in Australasia and in 2021 has brought together a catalogue of 303 lots to be held over February 15 and 16.
As an extra boost for local buyers, 95% of yearlings catalogued are eligible for either the Westpeed Platinum or Westspeed scheme, providing substantial benefits to breeding, owning, and racing horses in Western Australia.
