Bridgetown Harness Racing Club and Community TAB to fundraise for local school
Bridgetown Harness Racing Club and Community TAB have joined forces to raise funds for the Bridgetown Primary School P&C at the annual Bridgetown Cup on Sunday 21 March.
Bridgetown Harness Racing Club Treasurer Jo Moore said regional communities appreciate any help they can get to keep their community thriving.
“Our Community relies on many volunteer groups to run and organise events., and each group we are involved with gives back important networking and funds to keep driving this community, which ultimately keeps residents here, so in the end we all benefit,” Jo said.
“The Ray White Bridgetown Cup is the second race of the year at the Bridgetown Greater Sports Ground where the community comes together to get the track ready, provide food and drink and entertainment and make it a family day.”
“The Bridgetown Primary School P&C is a small but committed group of individuals trying to help support and raise funds for the school to purchase items that specifically benefit and support students and their families”.
“Funds raised at the Bridgetown Cup will assist providing funds for each classroom and subject teacher for non-consumable resources as well as seating in the nature play area.”
Community TAB will match funds raised on the day up to $2,000.
RWWA Chair Jeff Ovens said the positive effects of the Community TAB program have been extensive for regional WA, with 48 of WA’s race clubs based in regional communities.
“RWWA recognises that race clubs across WA play an important role in their community, contributing both economically and socially, with partnerships like these an example of the strong connection race clubs have within the communities in which they operate,” Jeff said.
“Community TAB is proud to play our part in giving back to the community, and our donation to Bridgetown Primary School P&C is just one of many community organisations that will be supported as part of the program.”
The Community TAB dollar matching program has been in effect from early 2015 and has since raised over $700,000 for not-for-profit organisations around WA through partnerships with local race clubs.
