To Fast To Serious Sidelined
Exciting pacer To Fast To Serious is set to spend up to a year on the sidelines after suffering a tendon injury.
In a fresh blow to WA’s open class ranks, which lost Shockwave to injury earlier this week, To Fast To Serious sustained the injury after his unplaced performance in last week’s Free-For-All.
Trainer Ray Williams said it was too early to tell the exact length of time To Fast To Serious will miss but confirmed he wouldn’t be fit for the Retravision-Fremantle Cup and WA Pacing Cup early next year.
“Unfortunately, he’s done a lower tendon, so that’s the end of his season,” he told TABradio.
“We’ve got to scan him again in 30 days and work out what to do from there.
“It’s unfortunate that we haven’t got him for the Pacing Cup this year.”
The gelding started his winter campaign with two victories, which included a win over star three-year-old Lavra Joe.
He made the step up to FFA company late last year when he finished third in the RWWA Cup and sixth in the WA Pacing Cup a week later.
WATCH – Magnificent Storm’s Second In The Golden Nugget
Williams will be hoping Simmonds Steel 4YO Classic winner Magnificent Storm can fill the void left by To Fast To Serious, as the gelding prepares to make his return in tonight’s Channel Seven Pace (2130m).
Magnificent Storm won a 2550m standing start trial at Byford earlier this month, his first public appearance since a runner-up finish in the Golden Nugget in February.
Williams said he was happy with Magnificent Storm’s trial and it gave him confidence heading into tonight’s event.
“He’s come back a lot stronger,” he said.
“His work has been really good and his trial he stepped well from the stand.
“It was 2500 which was a bit hard for him early, but he pulled up well from it.
“He’s up in class now but I think he will run a good race.”
The son of American Ideal has drawn barrier seven for his return, with Simba Bromac (barrier one), Son Of A Tiger (four) and Miracle Moose (five) expected to provide the toughest challenge.
Williams said driver Aldo Cortopassi would more than likely let Magnificent Storm settle in the early stages, rather than looking to cross from the wide draw.
