Sarah Suvaljko trained two winners over the weekend, including Moolah Magnet NZ breaking through for his maiden win at start 28, with the biggest thrill of them all, watching her boys steer them to victory.
“It’s quite surreal really, it’s just the best feeling, I’m just so proud of them,”
“They always ask for my opinion, but don’t always listen.” Suvaljko said.
Moolah Magnet NZ found the lead from barrier three in the last on the card, holding on for the win over the 2100m trip by 1.6m, giving Daniel Suvaljko the winning drive, with the three-year-old mile rating 2:01:3 over the 2100m.
“It’s a good feeling, always a thrill to drive a winner for mum.” Daniel Suvaljko said.
At just her sixth start in a race, Like It I Love It has broken through for her first after leading all the way in the 2YO fillies’ maiden at Bunbury. Starting from barrier two over the 1609m sprint, The Bob Mellsop trained youngster found the front after a short tussle, going on to win by 1.4m in 1:58:3.
It was a race-to-race driving double for Kyle Harper with Padditude finding the front from barrier six soon after release point, managing to stave off his rivals by 3.5m in race two for trainer Mark Lee in a slick 1:55:7 over the 1609m sprint, bringing up the three-year-old’s second win at his 20th start.
Strategically driven by Aiden De Campo, Rockstar Rebel managed to settle behind the leader soon after release point after starting from barrier five in race three on the card. The Capel based trainer/driver managed to run down the leader on the post, winning by a head in 1:59:8 over the 2100m trip, bringing up his second win in just five starts since moving to De Campo’s stable in September.
Aiden De Campo made it a race-to-race driving double in the fourth, with the Mike Howie trained Some Copper Beach getting up at odds in 1:58:8 over the 2100m trip. Starting from barrier 12, De Campo worked forward early from the back line to find the front after half a lap, holding off rivals by 2.2m, bringing up the four-year-old mares ninth career win.
There was a bit of a delay at the start with a driver down and a late scratching but eventually Squinta made it four on the trot, with the Team Bond trained two-year-old working to the lead in the early stages to take out race five in 1:58:6 over the 2100m, driven by Ryan Warwick. After a short tussle early, the handy youngster went on to win untouched by 1.8m, bringing up his seventh win from 21 starts.
It was a close finish in race six, but by a margin of just a head, Cowboys N Bandits continued his excellent form, bringing up his seventh win in WA from just his eight starts in the state. Trained by Michael Brennan and driven by Jocelyn Young, the three-year-old made full use of the sprint lane to run down the leader, claiming victory in 1:58:9 over the 2100m journey.
