RWWA Announces Departure of Chief Racing Officer
Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) today announces the resignation of Chief Racing Officer Charlotte Mills after more than 13 years of service to the State’s racing community.
Charlotte has successfully led the strategic direction of the racing division to maximise commercial performance, revitalise the relevance of WA racing and maintain strong welfare standards.
During her time at RWWA, Charlotte has been a driving force behind the continual uplift in industry funding, with the organisation delivering increases in its annual distributions year-on-year. In recent years RWWA has provided significant increases in funding to the racing industry and is soon to announce a record funding increase for the year ahead.
Effective from 30 June 2022, Charlotte will leave the organisation to commence the position of Head of Racing as part of the Executive Team at Moonee Valley Racing Club.
RWWA Chief Executive Officer Ian Edwards congratulated Charlotte on the new position and reflected upon her significant contribution.
“Charlotte has been a major contributor to the success of the WA racing sector and has been an integral part of RWWAs success in recent years,” Ian said.
“In more recent times, Charlotte has led the industry through incredibly uncertain times with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, working closely with the racing community to ensure we were able to continue to race.”
“Charlotte’s passion for ensuring animal wellbeing remains at the forefront of what we do, and has led to a number of initiatives introduced to elevate welfare standards, including the WA Racehorse Welfare Plan, improvement to our Greyhounds as Pets program, and the review of all greyhound racetracks by the University of Technology Sydney.”
“On behalf of the organisation, I would like to thank Charlotte for her commitment and dedication to both RWWA and the WA racing community. We wish her all the best as she heads back to her home state of Victoria.”
