Rodney Caton had two greyhounds already in the family, Kahlua and Champers, when he decided to attend the inaugural GAP National Adoption Day in 2018.
Originally Rodney had only planned on attending to support the event, but by the end of the day he came home with a third greyhound Jaxon.
“Jaxon was all alone with his handler when I decided to find out why,” said Rodney.
“The handler was really great and showed off Jaxon describing his temperament, meanwhile Jaxon cuddled up to me and became very affectionate – I couldn’t leave without him.”
Rodney loves the family atmosphere created by having three greyhounds at home and says they have all settled in well together.
“They all get along really well, especially Champers and Jaxon who love to play, but otherwise they are quiet dogs who are more likely to be cuddled up on the couch when they are inside than anything else.”
“I walk all three of them every day by myself, the only place I don’t attempt on my own is the beach, they get way too excited for me to keep up with them.”
Rodney recommends greyhounds as pets to everyone he meets and says that their popularity is growing and it’s easy to see why.
“I know quite a few people who have a greyhound or two now, they really are brilliant dogs.”
“You receive a thoroughbred dog in great condition with vet support details and other details as required for the dog you adopt.”
Rodney encourages anyone who is interested in adopting a greyhound to attend to the GAP National Adoption Day, which will once again be held at the Greyhound as Pet’s Southern River Facility, on Sunday 28 April.
