Thoroughbred Stewards Inquiries Relating to Flunixin
RWWA Stewards have been notified by the ChemCentre in Perth that a review of the confirmation data of the most recent samples reported as containing a level of flunixin over the screening limit, has highlighted a possible issue with the integrity of the reference standard.
All associated samples have been subjected to confirmatory analysis by other racing laboratories who have confirmed the presence of flunixin in the samples in question.
RWWA has therefore requested that re-analysis is conducted with a refreshed reference standard to confirm that the samples in question have exceeded the prescribed screening limit of 1ng/mL in plasma.
This decision has been undertaken to ensure certainty and confidence in the analytical processes that will be tabled before Stewards at an inquiry.
As a result, the scheduled inquiries involving the following have been deferred pending the outcomes of that analysis:
- Trainer T Brennan (COOL WITNESS) – Race 3 Albany – 11 Jan 2019
- Trainer S Rowe (PICASSO BAY) – Race 5 Pinjarra – 2 Jan 2019
- Trainer J Warwick (FIND THE GAP) – Race 1 Bunbury – 23 Dec 2018
- Trainer J Clements (MODERN NEWS) – Race 3 Pinjarra – 20 Dec 2018
This matter has been confirmed to be isolated to the above samples only and does not apply to any previous samples analysed.
