Racing to help fund primary school
8 October, 2015
COMMUNITY TAB and the Moora Race Club will join forces to raise much-needed funds for the Moora Primary School P and C at the annual Moora Cup on October 10.
This initiative is part of Community TAB’s new program that will see it partner with every race club in WA to raise funds for a local not-for-profit organisation.
Community TAB has agreed to match dollar for dollar all funds raised at the Moora Cup up to $2,000. Racing and Wagering WA Chairman Jeff Ovens said progressive partnerships like these are an exam- ple of the strong connection race clubs have with the communities in which they operate.
“Race clubs across WA play an important role in their community contributing both economically and socially,” Mr Ovens said.
“Community TAB is proud to partner with the clubs to ensure this positive connection is highlight- ed and play our own part in giving back to the com- munity.
“Our donation to the Moora Primary School P and C is one of more than 50 community organisations that will be supported as part of Community TAB’s $150 million contribution to the WA community this year.”
Moora Race Club is one of many race clubs around WA putting their hand up to fundraise for a local community group and help grow the financial and social support for their community.
Moora Race Club Treasurer Helen Watkins said the Community TAB program is a wonderful and helps small communities like Moora.
“It’s a great way to be able to attract other commu- nity organisations to help on race day,” Ms Watkins said.
“The Moora Cup is our only race day and it is run by volunteers who work hard to achieve an enjoyable event each year, including six races, fashions on the field, children’s activities and entertainment.
“The Moora Primary School P and C is a community run organisation who are always in need of funding.”
Funds raised will go towards equipment for children at the school.
