RWWA Stewards today concluded an inquiry into a report from the Racing Chemistry Laboratory (RCL) in Perth, that the pre-race blood sample taken from NOWUSEEMEROCK prior to it competing and finishing 4th in Race 2 the 1422 Radio Great Southern 3yo Stakes (1776m) at Wagin on Friday, 20 March 2009, had a level of total carbon dioxide (TCO2) in excess of 36.0 millimoles per litre in plasma.
This finding has been verified by the Racing Analytical Services Laboratory in Victoria.
Evidence was taken from Trainer Mr Ashleigh Markham, RWWA Industry Veterinarian Dr Judith Medd, RCL Manager Mr Charles Russo and RWWA Investigator Mr Geoff Johnson.
Trainer Mr Markham pleaded guilty to a charge under Harness Rule of Racing 190(2) for presenting NOWUSEEMEROCK to race at Wagin on Friday, 20 March 2009, with a TCO2 level in excess of 36.0 millimoles per litre in plasma.
Trainer Mr Markham was disqualified for six months effective immediately.
Acting under HRR 195 NOWUSEEMEROCK was disqualified from 4th place with the amended placings now reading:
