Yangebup Knights Baseball Club awarded Community TAB Sports Grant
Community TAB of Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) has awarded Yangebup Knights Baseball Club a $2000 sports grant.
The baseball club was one of four sporting clubs selected to receive a grant recently, from over 500 sporting clubs that have applied from around WA.
Yangebup Knights Baseball Club President Dion Wilkes said the grant means that they can supply new equipment to their volunteer officials and coaches that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to.
“While we are a small club, we have been at our home ground of Meller Park for over 20 years and have had local children grow up and are now starting to bring their children through the club,” Mr Wilkes said.
“Some of the families involved with the club now have 3 generations that are still active members of the Yangebup Knights.”
“As a club we wish to continue to foster the family and community focus of our sport.”
RWWA CEO Richard Burt said the organisation recognises the importance of grass roots sports throughout WA.
“We understand that it takes time and resources to keep a club running within the community, so we are pleased to be giving the opportunity to help relieve this burden on clubs,” said Mr Burt.
Community TAB will provide at least one grant each month to a sporting club to further their contribution to the sport and recreation industry in WA. Once a club applies for a grant, the application will stay within the pool until the grant is awarded.
Sporting clubs can apply for a grant at communitytab.com.au. Terms and Conditions apply.
