1. What do you love about country racing?
I love the close-knit community that comes together to have a great time, and catch up in a lovely atmosphere. Perfect place to dress to impress and come out in bright attractive clothes in brilliant sunshine, warm weather.
2. How long have you been going to the races for and what are some of your favourite memories?
I have been going to the races for around 10 years in Broome particularly. I try not to miss any race rounds in Broome, but can be hard with my two kids. My favourite memories are being with the family and friends at the races. Also watching my mother in law get dressed in her high end fashion, have her bets, and big wins on the horses from Broome to Ascot, catching the excitement on the TV when we watch Ascot races. All the beautiful ladies getting dressed up in the cool colourful clothes is a highlight also.
3. Why do you enter Fashions on the Field?
I enter fashions on the field as I do love competing in general, but Fashions on the field is great as I love to get dressed up in lovely clothes and see the wonderful fashion sense that other ladies have and show off. I have entered fashions on the field previously and haven’t had success like this before. Desire to win like this makes it even more amazing.
4. Describe your style.
My style is colourful, I love colours and my favourite colours are blue, yellow, white and pink. I was delighted to enter the fashions on the field in my favourite of all colours and win! Just can’t believe, it’s like a dream.
5. What tips do you have for people entering Fashions on the Field?
My tips for the ladies is be aware of the requirements of the types styles. Then just wear only the clothes you feel great and happy in – what is your ideal style, colours or brings out your skin tones, eyes? Its important I feel to wear something elegant, longer dress style whilst matching your accessories. Great styles don’t need to cost a fortune. Don’t wear something you just are not confident in wearing, it stands out on stage for women who are not comfortable and confident. Make sure you always smile.
6. What are some of your favourite things about the Kimberley region?
Like fashion, the Kimberley region has amazing colours that have amazing contrasting features. Amazing blues, reds, oranges and whites of the beaches and frangipani’s that make for amazing photos, from the dry season sunshine to the wet season’s storms. White beaches, cliffs that fall into the blue oceans and push up towards the sky, with amazing waterfalls, and bird life, crocodiles and fish with many more, you can’t beat the Kimberley country, multicultural peoples.
7. What does it mean to you to be going to ascot to compete in the final?
I’ve never been to Ascot like the rest of the family have in years gone by. So, I’m really not sure what to expect? Love to take the kids and enjoy the atmosphere and soak in the experience. There seems to be a great history at the Ascot racecourse, from the fashions on the field to the horse races. People that just go purely to socialise and dress to impress. I have nothing to lose, so I can’t wait. I’m very proud to represent Broome in the fashions on the field, I certainly want to win!
