The Last Word June 13 – Pearl Classic Night
Get all the important last minute information ahead of the 2YO Pearl Classic meeting at Gloucester Park tomorrow night. Race 5 is the feature event, won last year by Manning.
RACE 1 –WELCOME BACK TO GP MEMBERS & OWNERS PACE
1.Ross Olivieri (Boom Time): “He’s the horse to beat in that race. He’s a good sit and sprint horse. He’s also got the speed to hold up easily from one.”
3.Shannon Suvaljko (La Sulieman): “Difficuly draw and not suited at the distance. Wait for it to be a bit easier.”
4.Dylan Egerton-Green (Machs Gold): “Nice horse. Dave is happy with the horse. First-up over 2500 we will look to roll forward and hopefully get cover from wider out.”
5.Aldo Cortopassi (Cyclone Banner): “Real each-way chance here. Got good gate speed. He can get into a good spot early. He needs luck early and if he gets it he can pinch it.”
6.Deni Roberts (Euphoric Moment): “Up in grade but racing well enough to be competitive. Distance won’t be an issue and from the draw will just have to slot him in and sit him up and hope for the speed on early.”
7.Gary Hall Jnr (Master Publisher): “I don’t know what will happen. Every time they’ve used Boom Time he hasn’t gone as well. I think Master Publisher can sit outside and beat him, it just depends what comes from behind us.”
8.Aiden De Campo (Whoswhointhezoo): “Work cut out from there. Will need luck.”
12.Jocelyn Young (Regal Ambition): “Looks tough.”
RACE 2 – TABTOUCH PACE
1.Brett Smith (Mcardles Gem): “As it’s 2500 we will be happy to sit on Tua’s Delight and take our chances at the end. Horse is working well and expect him to finish top three or four.”
2.Gary Hall Jnr (Tuas Delight): “Not great out of the gates but it’s a winnable race. Distance will suit him. When they get tired he will keep getting home.”
3.Jack Justins (Pradas Ideal Dahling): “Won’t be taking a backwards step. Will either be in front or in the breeze.”
4.Deni Roberts (Henwood Bay): “Racing really well Definitely can’t rule him out even stepping up in class. Distance suits him but can’t see him finding the front as he isn’t overly quick out. Will probably come across and look for cover.”
5.Greg Bond (Courage Tells): “Opportunist. Needs breaks from the draw. He will look for a spot in the running line.”
6.Ross Olivieri (Madame Meilland): “Hasn’t drawn a gate again. Chris was happy with her last week. I don’t think she will win until she gets a draw.”
8.Shannon Suvaljko (Qtown Rip Roaring): “Always a chance with luck in running but it’s a difficult draw.”
9.Chris Voak (Bad Round): “Tough draw.”
10.Jocelyn Young (Athabascan): “Place chance with luck.”

RACE 3 – RETRAVISION PACE
1.Maddison Brown (Jilliby Jake): “Gets the good draw. Should lead and give cheek. It’s a step up on last win.”
3.Dylan Egerton-Green (Bracken Sky): “Going okay. Will need luck from the draw.”
4.Jocelyn Young (Pierre Whitby): “Racing well. Each way.”
6.Aiden De Campo (Captain Mannering): “Racing well in his two starts back. Needs some luck.”
7.Shannon Suvaljko (Tanaka Eagle): “Bad draw for him. Wait until he drops back to a bit easier grade.”
8.Aldo Cortopassi (Naval Aviator): “Going well. Draw hurts a bit. Little bit of luck will go a long way for him.”
9.Gary Hall Jnr (Robbie Easton): “Had some problems with his tractability but Snr has been driving him and thinks he’s got it sorted out. Best horse in it but has the worst draw.”
11.Ross Olivieri (The Dali Express): “Good place chance with winning credentials. Voaky was very impressed last week.”
RACE 4 – VALE BARRY HAYES PACE
1.Aiden De Campo (Bettor Be Oscar): “Racing well. Crying out for a draw and he’s got it. Got the speed to lead too.”
2.Colin Brown (Hy Leexciting): “Took some positives out of his run. Give him another chance.”
4.Gary Hall Jnr (Mr Kiwi): “Tough race. Hanging badly in his races so he’s a place bet at best.”
6.Dylan Egerton-Green (Our Perkins): “Crying out for a draw. Place chance here.”
7.Shannon Suvaljko (A Boy Named Rosie): “Racing well but again a bad draw for him. Will drive quiet but will hit the line hard.”
11.Chris Voak (Gangbuster): “In career best form winning his last two in town. Place chance here.”
RACE 5 – PEARL CLASSIC
1.Michael Brennan (Pinny Tiger): “He’s got the draw. Horse has got tremendous gate speed. When the draws first came out I was thinking we might sit. After working him yesterday and the progression from Tuesday to hopefully tomorrow, he will run the gate. He’s probably one of the better two-year-olds I’ve had.”
2.Ross Olivieri (Star Of Willoughby): “Gets out at the same speed as the one. I think it’s pointless burning gas. He will be driven with a sit. Good draw which will put him in a good position. He’s a place chance with some winning hope.”
3.Ray Jones (Lavra Joe): “Pretty happy with the draw. He will be going forward and having a crack for the lead or sit outside it.”
4.Aiden De Campo (The Good Life): “Good horse with good ability. Come on a lot since the heat. He will run a much better race than he did in the heat.
5.Colin Brown (Arma Einstein): “Nice horse. Will continue to improve.”
6.Kim Prentice (Carabao): “I want to go forward. Bryan thinks the speed will be on though so it’s a tough one. If he had have drawn closer in we would’ve gone forward. If he gets a nice run in transit he’s a big chance.”
7.Deni Roberts (American Bulitt): “This horse has a lot of potential but has been hard work getting him to perform at the races. His last run was an improvement. Still undecided on how we are going to drive him. Probably one of those draws where I will make my mind up off the gate.”
8.Greg Bond (Give Us A Wave): “Barrier hasn’t helped. Trained on well though so he will need luck.”
9.Shannon Suvaljko (Machnificent): “Ran a good race last start but came up with the outside draw. Will need luck.”
10.Gary Hall Jnr (Mighty Ronaldo): “Hopefully something happens where the one leads. That would bring us into it. If Lavra Joe gets the top I think we’re running for second. It could be a fence dominated race.”
11.Aldo Cortopassi (Sugar Street): “I thought the heat run was a good tough run. Went well in the breeze. Should get a good trip here.”
12.Jett Star (Greg Bond): “From 12 he should get in the running line behind the 11. If it’s a genuinely run race then he should get the economical run.”

RACE 6 – WESTSIRED 3YO COLTS & GELDINGS
1.Maddison Brown (Longreach Bay): “Not sure what Peter will want to do but he does seem to like a horse who likes to lead and run his own race. He’s a chance from the ace.”
3.Aiden De Campo (Follow The Dragon): “Don’t think we can cross the one. Handy enough horse but looks a touch outclassed.”
4.Dylan Egerton-Green (Aristocratic Star): “He can lead and win here.”
5.Gary Hall Jnr (Sukhovey Windman): “Don’t know a lot about him. He looks a sit and kick horse.”
7.Aldo Cortopassi (Fiord): “Hard for him. We will look to drive him quietly.”
8.Kim Prentice (Adda Spoilt Major): “Going okay. He will go back and look to get into it at the right time.”
10.Colin Brown (Adda Pocket Rinse): “Has matured mentally. Work has improved and is a good chance if he doesn’t fire up in the run.”
11.Aiden De Campo (Keptain Courageous): “Nice trailing draw. He’s come to the end of the prep. On ability he should be in the top half of the field.”
12.Shannon Suvaljko (Miracle Max): “Done a good job on the track so far but faces his hardest task. Will need luck.”

RACE 7 – WESTSIRED 3YO FILLIES
2.Ross Olivieri (Star In Art): “I got her off Peter Anderson and said she had improved out of sight from her last run.”
3.Shannon Suvaljko (Remarkable Star): “Looks outclassed.”
4.Colin Brown (Fifty Five Reborn): “Should lead or breeze and will be hard to beat.”
5.Chris Voak (Royalhotshot): “Tricky draw. Up in class.”
7.Aldo Cortopassi (Star Fromthepalace): “She’s a top line filly. Colin’s is the one to beat. She can sit outside her though and it will be best horse wins.”
8.Dylan Egerton-Green (Magical Mysty): “Going okay. The draw is hard.”
11.Ross Olivieri (Star Of The Class): “Got a reasonable record but in weaker company.”
RACE 8 – WORLDWIDE PRINTING PACE
1.Michael Brennan (Good Times Ahead): “We will do our best to hold a very forward position. The Bird Dance will cross us for fun I think.”
3.Greg Bond (The Bird Dance): “Looks a good race for him. He should get the front and has the chance to win again.”
4.Gary Hall Jnr (Mister Bushido): “If he runs third he’s done well.”
5.Dylan Egerton-Green (Bletchley Park): “He will be driven as the race unfolds. He will have to be put into it at some stage. The Bird Dance is the leader and the one to run down.”
7.Chris Voak (Bettor Party): “He’s ready to win, but I don’t think this will be it.”
8.Jack Justins (Mighty Flying Deal): “Starting from Collie again in a tough field. Hope for a draw when he can drop back a grade next week.”
RACE 9 – ALLWOOD STUD FARM PACE
- Chris Voak (My Prayer): “Good each way hope from a favourable draw.”
- Greg Bond (Starlight Destiny): “She’s placed to get the right run. Genuine top three chance.”
- Aiden De Campo (Mandy Joan): “Tricky race. Off her last two she can win.”
- Jocelyn Young (Nowuseemesmile): “Awkward draw. Top five hope with a soft trip.”
- Shannon Suvaljko (Tiffany Rose): “ Nice mare who should run a good race.”
- Michael Brennan (Sweet Maddison): “She will be driven sit-sprint from the draw which will suit her immensely.”
- Greg Bond (Divinia Bellezza): “Happy with two of her three efforts here. Found the line on Monday well.”
- Greg Bond (Twilight Saga): “Barrier draw hurts. Look to find the line like she did on Monday.”
RACE 10 – CHOICES FLOORING TROT
3.Bob Mellsop (One Bid Buys): “She looks like she will get a reasonable run. Hopefully she can be amongst them in a small field. I’m very happy with her.”
6.Bob Mellsop (Lord Liam): “Trialled well. He’s as good as I’ve had him. He felt super in the trial. He will roll forward to the front or the breeze.”
