Thank you, owners!
RWWA would like thank all owners for their continuous investment and support of the WA racing industry, and for their patience and cooperation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
To celebrate the return of patrons back on-course, we are sharing the ownership experiences of some of our owners, such as greyhound owner Simon Marsigalia, who is one of over 13,000 people investing in the WA racing industry.
Simon’s interest in racing started with horses, before greyhound racing peaked his interest.
“We bought our first greyhound in 2012. We won a few races and naturally caught the ownership bug from there.”
“Since then, we have owned five dogs, all of which have won over $20K in prize money.”
“Our biggest thrill was owning Blue Glitter with Mark Latham, who won a feature race in Mandurah. She has been a fantastic dog to follow.”
In recent years Simon has attained a breeder licence, and has bred two litters of greyhound pups.
“I love the dogs, they are just beautiful animals. I have introduced the dogs to my nieces and nephew, who love helping out and look after them. It has become quite the family affair, with my mum having the kennels set up on her property.”
“I have formed solid relationships with trainers over the years, and one of the best trainers in Victoria, Angela Langton, has mentored me. In addition to my love for the greyhounds, the people I have met in the industry has been the most enjoyable aspect of being involved.”
“I am looking forward to heading down to the track again to catch up with a few mates, have a nice meal and a couple of beers whilst hopefully watching our greyhounds have a win.”
Once again, RWWA would like to thank owners for their understanding during this challenging period, and for their support as we progressively get back to enjoying racing as we know it in WA.
