Charleton Eddie’s Return Excites Turner
Jockey Jordan Turner is confident he can end the Ascot season on a high in tomorrow afternoon’s Quayclean Handicap (1200m), where he teams up with Charleton Eddie.
The Sean and Jake Casey-trained galloper returns to the track for the first time in almost two months, following a cameo appearance in February and March.
Turner, who was successful aboard Charleton Eddie at Bunbury in March, said the gelding was forward enough to play a prominent part in tomorrow’s event off the back of a freshen-up.
“He’s coming along nicely,” Turner told TABradio.
“His work was good on Tuesday morning.
“It was a nice strong gallop and he’s come through that well.”
TABtouch installed Charleton Eddie as a $4.60 second favourite and has eased slightly to $4.80.
Nerodio, who has finished in the placings at his first two runs this campaign, is the favourite at $2.80.
Turner rode Nerodio at his first 11 starts and conceded he would be hard to beat but was confident Charleton Eddie would give a good sight in front.
“The favourite is going to be hard to beat,” he said.
“I’ve ridden that horse a few times and he’s run consistent races.
“He (Charleton Eddie) maps well in the run and I’d say he’d lead from the barrier.
“I’m sure he will play a big part in the race.”

Turner also teams up with Sassy Trader for the Casey team in the World Class Breast Cancer Research Handicap (1100m) and said it was an even field.
“I think stepping down to the 1100 will suit him,” he said.
“It’s not a bad race so it’ll be interesting to see how he goes.”
