Father & Son Combination To End Bunbury Season On A High
26 April, 2016
Thoroughbred
The Bunbury Turf Club will draw the curtain on a successful 2015-16 racing season with Peter Giadresco and his son Matthew, claiming Leading Trainer honours.
The father and son combination hold a narrow one win lead, but it will be enough to clinch the title with Grant Williams not fielding any runners on Wednesday’s card.
The Giadresco camp will also be taking home Horse of the Year with their Discorsi mare, Discord Witch holding an unassailable lead.
In a nine start Bunbury campaign that commenced in October, the four-year-old won four races and was placed on three occasions.
Discord Witch also ran a narrow nose second to She Rules All when stepping up to city grade over 1200m at Ascot last February.
Champion rider, William Pike, eight wins clear of Jarrad Noske, has earned Leading Jockey honours. Jason Whiting can finish third.
Randy Tan is on the verge of snaring another trophy as he holds the edge over talented contemporary, Clint Johnston-Porter.
The talented pair are locked in another tussle after Tan defeated Johnston-Porter to take out Geraldton’s Leading Apprentice on Sunday.
