Gloucester Park: The Last Word
THE LAST WORD
Gloucester Park – Friday July 17, 2020
RACE 1: GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND MS PACE (2130m)
Jocelyn Young (PIERRE WHITBY): “Got the draw and is racing really well. Big chance.”
Aldo Cortopassi (ART TUTOR): “Looks a good race for him, he should be right in the finish again you’d think. We’ll be having a good crack at the lead. Lead or breeze is his go, when he gets back in the field he doesn’t try real hard.”
Gary Hall Jnr (BOLTA): “Looks a good each-way chance again from not a bad draw.”
Aiden De Camp (WALSH): “Tricky draw, had no luck last week but is racing well.”
Ross Olivieri (DENNIS): “It’s a bad draw for him but he’ll go back and, if they go hard, he’ll come home and get close to the placings like he always does. He’s consistent like that.”
Deni Roberts (HENWOOD BAY): “Not a great draw but we’ll come across early as he’s a lot better up on the speed. Very happy with him, thought he was super last start but he will need a bit to go his way.”
Dylan Egerton-Green (MACHS GOLD): “Wait for next start, he just needs a draw and he’ll run a really good race.”
Kim Prentice (EXTRADITE): “He’s probably got no hope. He drew nine last week and this week, so he’ll just go back. I’ve nominated him for Tuesday hoping we get a draw.”
Shannon Suvaljko (LA SULEIMAN): “Been unlucky last few starts, good draw here but is following out a slow beginner. Can be in the finish but will need luck.”
Michael Grantham (WOODLEA RAGNAR): “Probably a perfect draw for him. He’s been going good and his run last week at Bunbury was pretty good. He came from four and five-back on the rail and they got home in 27.5 and I made up a heap of ground so I was very happy with him.”
Ross Olivieri (BOOM TIME): “He’s been unlucky his last couple, he hasn’t got a crack at all. He’ll be looking to follow something into the race and he can make his presence felt.”
RACE 2: YOUR ONE STOP SHOP IS AT GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND MS PACE (2130m)
Matthew Scott (TWENTYNINE TWELVE): “The drop in distance will help him and he’s got pull-down blinkers going on. I’m expecting him to go really well.”
Aldo Cortopassi (NAVAL AVIATOR): “He needs to improve. I’ve changed his training so hopefully it’ll spark him up a little bit.”
Chris Voak (ULTIMATE OFFER): “His best is good enough to win this.”
Lindsay Harper (OH WHAT A COUNTRY): “It looks hard, the four main chances have drawn inside him. He’s also racing out of his grade, he’s only a 20 grand-odd earner and most of these horses have won in town.”
Deni Roberts (EUPHORIC MOMENT): “Awesome run last week, he did it tough from back in the field. Another not-so-favourable draw so I’ll be driving him back with a sit and hoping for a genuine tempo up front.”
Gary Hall Snr (OUR RHYTHM N BLUES): “He’s a non-winner but the draw’s probably going to help him run a place up the rail. He’s had a few hard runs but he goes alright, he just doesn’t try too hard I don’t think.”
Matthews Scott (CHARLIE EL): “He’s actually going pretty good after a spell. He was pretty close last week and he’s a sneaky place chance.”
Matthew Scott (NEIGHLOR): “He’s better than he has been but it’s a tough draw.
RACE 3: WWW.HORSEANDHOUSE.COM.AU MS PACE (2130m)
Lindsay Harper (THEREUGO): “He’s going okay, I’ve been trying to teach him to sit at trials and he’s been sitting quite good but hasn’t been running on. He’s a much better leader, he’s won 20 races and 18 of them having been leading. His first-up record has never been good, he’s never even run a place, but we’ve given him a bit of extra work and a couple extra trials. From the one he’ll lead this so we’ll just make the best of it, but I don’t anticipate him winning.”
Ross Olivieri (MADAME MEILLAND): “She’s been going terrific at home, she should go okay.”
Gary Hall Snr (EXTREME PRINCE): “He’s a place chance but I don’t think he can win.”
Ross Olivieri (GEE JAY KAY): “I reckon he’s about ready to show his best. In his last run Lewis went forward to grab the breeze but couldn’t get it, so he went back to last then in the straight he was ducking and diving trying to find a run. He will have improved from that outing.”
Gary Hall Snr (TUAS DELIGHT): “He’s probably got no hope.”
Jocelyn Young (BAD ROUND): “Draw hurts but is racing consistently. Place chance if the race is run upside down.”
Gary Hall Snr (MISTER BUSHIDO): “He’s going well but he’s got the job ahead of him from out there.”
Shannon Suvaljko (LIGHTNING JOLT): “He’s racing well and it’s a good draw to follow out the leader. Should go close with luck.”
Deni Roberts (OUR PERKINS): “Horse is racing well and it’s a nice trailing draw for him. There maps to be speed early which will suit and we’ll be looking for a run late.”
Greg Bond (COURAGE TELLS): “He’ll have to be driven quietly from the draw but will hopefully find the line well late.”
RACE 4: GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND AUSTRALIA & NZ WIDE MS PACE (2536m)
Shannon Suvaljko (TOMMY BE GOOD): “Nice draw and trial was excellent last week. 2500m suits to run a good race.”
Aiden De Campo (HANDSANDWHEELS): “Real happy with him last week and he has improved off the run. Draw and distance suit.”
Gary Hall Snr (IDEAL LINER): “He’s been working pretty good but the draw’s gone against him. I was hoping he would draw inside and get to the rail to sit on Chicago Bull or Handsandwheels, but I can’t see that happening. Handsandwheels will definitely lead and Chicago Bull will be outside him, so hopefully he can be one-out.”
Ross Olivieri (MOTU PREMIER): “I thought it’d be a good race for him but then when Handsandwheels drew two it doesn’t make it so good. He’ll still go okay, he’s working back to some form.”
Aldo Cortopassi (I’M SOXY): “A tricky draw for him, he’ll probably have to go back with Handsandwheels drawn two and the Bull in there, too. I’ll just drive him cheap and hopefully we can run in the first five.”
Matthew Scott (ROCK ME OVER): “He went a lot better than I thought he would first up, he ran out of his skin. Obviously this isn’t going to be this race but, when he gets a draw, he’s definitely going to be running a place.”
Gary Hall Snr (CHICAGO BULL): “It’s not going to be easy against Handsandwheels, he’s a smart up-and-coming horse and his last start was better than it reads, but I thought Bully’s last two runs have been really good. He’s probably my best chance for the night.”
Chris Voak (VULTAN TIN): “Gross barrier.”
RACE 5: GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND THE CHANDON MS PACE (2130m)
Mitchell Miller (DESTINED TO RULE): “Horse is in career best form. He doesn’t have the best gate speed but did show better get speed last week so hopefully we can hold leaders back on Cyclone Banner. Would love to see this horse in front one night but I don’t think it’ll be this race. Each-way all day.”
Jocelyn Young (BRACKEN SKY): “Big chance if he finds the fence. Hit the line strong last week.”
Aldo Cortopassi (CYCLONE BANNER): “Super honest horse. We’ll press the button off the gate, he has really good gate speed. We’ll light him up and try to find the top then see what happens from there.”
Shannon Suvaljko (A BOY NAMED ROSIE): “Very unlucky horse who going extra well but always needs luck in his races. Can see him fighting out the finish with luck.”
Aiden De Campo (BAYLAN JETT): “Racing well when I have been behind him. It’s an even field but he’s a chance if things go our way.”
Chris Voak (SANGUE REALE): “Trialled attractively and showed class last preparation, however, the barrier favours Cyclone Banner. Expect him to finish strong late.”
Ross Olivieri (JIMMY MACK): “He’ll need a bit of luck from the draw but the horse is going well.”
Dylan Egerton-Green (ANIME): “Needs things to go his way but he’s a top-five contender with the right run.”
Kyle Harper (BLACK JACK ZAC): “Runs into a few handy ones but has returned to racing near his best. Should get a soft run from the draw and is a good each-way chance with an ounce of luck.”
RACE 6: GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND BOTRA CUP SS PACE (2503m)
Aldo Cortopassi (MAJOR SHARD): “We’ll just step away, there are a few horses in the race that are nice standing-start horses. He needs to be following a helmet so we’ll find a helmet early then have one crack at them, but he’s been going alright and might be able to sneak into the top five.”
Greg Bond (DIVINIA BELLEZZA): “If she found the top I think she would definitely take some running down but the start is obviously the key with her.”
Jocelyn Young (REGAL AMBITION): “Place chance with the right breaks.”
Chris Voak (MAJOR ARTIST): “More than handy speed horse. Usually begins well, can follow pace and with the right trip can figure in the finish.”
Matthew Scott (CARRAMAR PHILEMON): “He’s going to find it hard from where he’s drawn so wait for another day.”
Gary Hall Jnr (REBEL WITH A GRIN): “Conditions suit. Could be a knockout chance with luck in running.”
Aiden De Camp (DELIGHTFULREACTION): “Racing well but will need luck in running.”
Michael Grantham (FORGOTTEN HIGHWAY): “He’s probably my best drive of the night. He’s very versatile — he can sit, lead, breeze or go wide, he’s got a lot of tricks up his sleeve and is a pretty good horse.”
RACE 7: CALL GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PERTH ON 9221 9493 F&M MS PACE (2130m)
Kyle Harper (PARISIAN PARTYGIRL): “Is still airborne. Haven’t seen one race as well as her for so long without stepping out and winning. Needs to be driven for luck but if she gets it she’ll be dangerous.”
Gary Hall Snr (FAKE NEWS): “If she leads I think she would definitely win. She’s working pretty good but I don’t know what Parisian Partygirl is going to do.”
Ross Olivieri (QUEEN SHENANDOAH): “We might have a crack for the top, she gets out pretty good. I think if she led, whatever beat her would win. Her work at home has been very attractive.”
Dylan Egerton-Green (NOWUSEEMESMILE): “She’s going well, we’ll look to be on the fence and hopefully it opens up late. She’s crying out for a draw to follow one of the better ones but don’t right her off.”
Gary Hall Snr (JUST ROCKON BYE): “She’s always a good chance in these races, she’s quite a good mare. If she happened to lead she could win, but I think both of mine need to lead to show their best.”
Michael Grantham (MY PRAYER): “An awkward draw but she’s going well and has been very consistent of late.”
Shannon Suvaljko (ARMA INDIE): “Super return last week. Should improve and run on but has an awkward draw.”
Aiden De Campo (AMERICAN DELIGHT): “Really happy with her first up run. Draw hurts but has trained on well.”
Deni Roberts (TALKERUP): “Hasn’t raced for over a month but trialled well. Good draw to see where she is at.”
RACE 8: GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND FOR ALL YOUR EQUINE NEEDS 3YO FILLIES MS PACE (2130m)
Kim Prentice (SOHO WHISPER): “She’s going really good. I normally drive her for luck but I think I might try hold up. She held up in one of the fillies races a couple months ago but she wasn’t going nearly as good as she is at the minute. Her last couple of starts she’s just been hard on the helmet and not had any luck, so I might try and take the luck out of it.”
Chris Voak (STAR OF DIAMONDS): “Possesses gate speed. Expect her to lead and be hard to beat. Looks my best for the program.”
Michael Grantham (MISS LAMAAR): “I was very happy with her last run. She’s not getting the credit for what she’s doing at the moment and I’d love to think I could get to the front here but Star Of Diamonds looks the leader. We’ll probably sit one-one again on Fifty Five Reborn and she probably has a really good chance at having a crack for a win this time.”
Kim Prentice (SOHO MAJOR PLAYER): “She’ll just snag straight back to the fence and rely on a bit of luck.”
Colin Brown (FIFTY FIVE REBORN): “She should finish in the first three. She’s actually improved from her run on Monday so I’m expecting her to go better than what she did on Monday.”
Colin Brown (FARAWAYEYES): “She’s probably no hope from the draw. She needed a good draw to be competitive with these fillies.”
Dylan Egerton-Green (SAGITTARIAN ARK): “The horse is racing really well. I was hoping to get a better draw but she’s probably one to follow in her coming starts.”
RACE 9: GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND FREE DELIVERY FOR ORDERS OVER $300 2YO MS PACE (2130m)
Shannon Suvaljko (OUR SHELLEY BEACH): “Nice run last Monday, ran great sectionals. Will run a great race from this draw.”
Dylan Egerton-Green (OTIS): “Really nice horse. We’ll look to run the gate so he should find the front and be hard to run down. He’s my best drive.”
Gary Hall Jnr (SUGAR STREET): “One of the better two-year-olds I’ve driven this season. I think he’s the one to beat.”
Chris Voak (BURGHLEY SHARD): He is still learning to race but does give a good feel. Should get a good trip and can salute the judge.”
Michael Grantham (SQUEEZEME PLEASEME): “I don’t know much about him yet but it looks like a bit of a sticky draw for him.”
Aiden De Campo (DOMINUS FACTUM): “Bad draw but is racing well. Will be getting to the line hard.”
Ross Olivieri (STAR OF WILLOUGHBY): “He’ll need an excellent drive from Lewis to figure but he’s been going good. He’s not without a chance but the draw hurts him.”
