HANNANS HANDICAP OVERVIEW
- Kalgoorlie’s feature sprint race, the Hannans Handicap, was first run in March 1897 and won by Laura.
- There were two Hannan races staged in 1897 with Common going on to win five months later in August.
- Notable winners include Lorna’s Nuisance who won the race in three consecutive years: (1977-78-79).
- Dual winners are Circulus (1904-06), Trecratic (1944-46), Santa Brae (1975-76) and Stolen Thunder (1984-86).
- Saltilo and Perplex dead-heated in 1905.
- Cambana Lad, who won in 1972, also won the Railway Stakes in 1974.
