King Of Swing Gets A Chance To Shine
A favourable barrier draw is set to give talented four-year-old King Of Swing an ideal chance to end a seven start winless streak in the On Track With Enda Brady Pace (2130m) at Gloucester Park tomorrow night.
The Gary Hall Snr-trained pacer hasn’t won since May 18 and has been plagued by bad barriers and bad luck.
That bad luck was evident last week as he finished 10m behind Bettor Reward and was held up for a clear run.
However, King Of Swing has drawn barrier two tomorrow night and looks well placed to return to the winners circle.
Mad Robber, who is first-up tomorrow night, has drawn barrier one to the inside of King Of Swing.
King Of Swing’s owner Glen Moore said it shaped up as a defining night for the son of Rocknroll Hanover and expected him to find the front from the favourable draw.
“His last run was a forget run,” Moore told RWWA Harness.
“His trial prior to that run indicated he had turned the corner.
“This is his opportunity tomorrow night and I expect him to go well.
“If he didn’t win tomorrow night we would have to reassess where he’s at.”
As well as having King Of Swing and Mad Robber in the race, Hall Snr also has the in-form Tuas Delight and Speed Man.
Moore also has a share in Speed Man and said he expected another strong showing from the four-year-old from barrier 11.
“He’s going well,” he said.
“The race will probably be difficult for him if King Of Swing leads and goes how we expect him to go.
“It will probably be hard for horses off the track to make up the ground.
“He should be around the placings though.”
Meanwhile, Amelia’s Courage also gets a chance to score the biggest win in WA when she lines up in the WASBA Four and Five-Year-Old Mares Pace (2130m).
The Colin Brown-trained mare has been a consistent performer since coming to WA early in 2018 and looks to have a significant chance to score her first win since June.
Our Corelli has drawn barrier one in the August Cup, the Free-For-All event of the evening, while trainers Greg and Skye Bond have stable stars Vampiro and El Jacko engaged from barrier seven and eight respectively.
Hall Snr has consistent pair Whozideawasthis and Herrick Roosevelt engaged from barrier 11 and 12 in the $25,000 event.
