Pingrup Race Club and Community TAB to fundraise for local school
Pingrup Race Club and Community TAB have joined forces to raise funds for Pingrup Primary School’s Playground Renewal Project at the annual Pingrup Races on Saturday 21 March.
Pingrup Race Club Sponsorship Officer Stacey Newman said she was thrilled the Club could get involved with the Community TAB dollar matching program, with Community TAB marching funds raised on the day up to $2,000.
“Operating in a small regional location with a small number of residents provides few opportunities to fundraise with outside sources, so this is a fantastic way to support vital community groups that keep our rural and regional communities alive,” Ms Newman said.
“The Pingrup Primary School playground has not seen a significant upgrade for around 20 years, and given play provides such significant benefits to children, the renewal project has multiple facets to promote growth, development and overall engagement in our community.”
RWWA Chairman Jeff Ovens said the positive effects of the Community TAB program have been extensive for regional WA, with 49 of WA’s race clubs based in regional communities.
“RWWA recognises that race clubs across WA play an important role in their community, contributing both economically and socially, with partnerships like these an example of the strong connection race clubs have within the communities in which they operate,” Mr Owens said.
“Community TAB is proud to play our part in giving back to the community, and our donation to Pingrup Primary School is just one of more than 50 community organisations that will be supported as part of the program.”
The Community TAB dollar matching program has been in effect from early 2015, and has since raised over $600,000 for not-for-profit organisations around WA through partnerships with local race clubs.
Fundraising will be done through community groups providing catering.
