Race Clubs & Community TAB donate over $580K to WA charities
Over the last five years Community TAB, in partnership with WA race clubs, has raised over $589,000 for local not-for-profit organisations through its Matching Funds Program.
In the current 2018/19 racing season, 30 clubs have partnered with Community TAB to raise funds for 39 different local not-for-profit organisations with a total of $115,866 amount being raised.
RWWA CEO Richard Burt said the program is an initiative that RWWA is very proud of.
“Through the life of this program over 190 fundraising partnerships have been created, ensuring the vital services of these organisations can continue in their local community,” Mr Burt said.
“The positive effects of this program have been extensive, especially for regional WA with a majority of our race clubs based in regional communities, the fundraising has allowed the race clubs to reinforce strong relationships within their communities.”
“RWWA recognises race clubs across WA play an important role in their community contributing both economically and socially, and we thoroughly enjoy working with the race clubs on this rewarding program through Community TAB.”
Through the program, WA race clubs nominate an organisation of their choice that they fundraise for at one of their race meetings, with Community TAB matching the amount raised to a maximum of $5,000. Almost every one of WA’s 51 race clubs have taken part in the program over the past five years.
Community TAB is an initiative that allows RWWA to give back to the WA community through various initiatives and industries.
In the calendar year of 2019, any race clubs that takes part in the program goes into the running to receive a $4,000 grant from Community TAB, as a way of giving back to the clubs who have supported the initiative.
Nor-for-profit organisations around the State who have benefitted from the program include WA Police Legacy, Variety WA, various local volunteer bushfire brigades and St John Ambulance sub centres, Give Me 5 For Kids, Lifeline WA, local Men’s Shed and Lions Clubs, Wheatbelt Womens Health Hub, local sporting clubs and local Surf Life Saving WA clubs.
