Fashion and lifestyle blogger, Rayne Embley, is set to join forces with WA businessman Rick Hart and former Eagles Star Dean Cox, as the newest ambassador for Racing and Wagering WA’s (RWWA) Owners Only initiative.
Ms Embley, a regular on the Perth social scene, often attends major racing events and was also a host for RWWA’s live broadcast of the Ascot Summer Racing Carnival in 2015.
“Going to the races is one of my favourite things to do. I love the social aspect, the fashion and I love to have a little punt,” said Ms Embley.
Ms Embley has had a brief introduction to racehorse ownership in the past with close family members owning shares in racehorses, but has now decided to experience the excitement for herself with recently joining a group of ladies in entering into ownership of a 2yo Gelding by Blackfriars out of Classy Charmer, at the 2016 Magic Millions Sales.
“I have dabbled with horse ownership over the years as there’s nothing like being out at the track with your friends on a gorgeous sunny day cheering on your horse. Horse ownership definitely takes the day to a new level,” said Ms Embley.
“I have been a part of the whole process. From seeing the yearlings at the Magic Million’s Sales, to being introduced to my horse at the trainers house at a casual BBQ, to learning about his parents and now we are about to name him. I get regular updates on his training and schedule and all I want to do now is see him race!”
Ms Embley will be making her debut as the newest ambassador at an Owners Only Marquee held at the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club’s Hannans Handicap on Thursday 22nd September 2016.
Owners Only is a RWWA initiative that recognises and rewards current Western Australian racehorse and greyhound owners.
“Owners Only is a dedicated program that aims to further enhance the ownership experience and we look forward to Rayne sharing her journey and showcasing all aspects of ownership both off and on the race track,” said Charlotte Mills, Executive Manager Racing Marketing and Communications.
Since its inception in February 2015, over 2,100 existing owners have been hosted at 34 different Owners Only events, including stud tours, race day pop-up lounges, ladies luncheons and track work.
