Racing Safely for Tayla Rollings – Greyhound Handler
Greyhound Handler Tayla Rollings is one of the 24,000 participants who is employed or participates in the Western Australian racing industry.
It is because of our industry participants, such as Tayla, that we continue to do everything in our power to ensure we can continue to race safely throughout the COVID-10 pandemic.
On top of caring for greyhounds off the track, Tayla enjoys the thrill of preparing and handling the dogs before a race.
“This is the only job I have ever known, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. It can be hard to do all the early mornings and late nights sometimes, but when I get to work and have a cuddle with the dogs I remember why I love what I do.”
“I also have a share in a few greyhounds, and win or lose, I just love watching them in their element.”
“Racing brings so much joy to people, and it is such a big part of my life, and I am dedicated to informing people about what goes on behind the scenes – and hopefully get them involved and excited about racing.”
Throughout the outbreak of COVID-19, Tayla said working outdoors and in large spaces has made it achievable to follow all the guidelines in place.
Since 16 March 2020, we have been working together as an industry to implement a range of strict bio-security measures to ensure the continuation of racing during COVID-19.
Once again RWWA would like to thank our racing participants for their continuous understanding and support through these uncertain times.
We are in this, TOGETHER.
