Sports grant boost for Cockburn Lakes Amateur Football Club
A Community TAB $2000 sports grant is opening the way for players to take the field at Cockburn Lakes Amateur Football Club.
The grant will be used to buy new equipment and subsidise fees, enabling the club to offer an accessible local football program for men, women and juniors.
Secretary Lee Nott said the club was a focal point for the Cockburn community and a leader in initiatives for community awareness and inclusion.
“We understand the importance of community-based sports to increase inclusivity. The generous grant will allow us to keep fees down but also go toward simple club supplies such as water bottles, playing jumpers and training accessories that keep our players on track,” Lee said.
“Cockburn Lakes has a long-time commitment to the Cockburn community and surroundings and we strive to provide an inclusive environment as well as a platform for local volunteer groups through regular fundraising activities.
“We are proud of the community we have created.”
Racing and Wagering Western Australia Chief Executive Officer Ian Edwards saluted the importance of grassroots sport in Western Australia.
“We are honoured to be supporting local sporting clubs to ensure they can continue to play a vital role in their communities,” Ian said.
“Grassroots sporting clubs not only provide important benefits for individual wellbeing but they also bring people from the local community together.”
