Star Pacer Returns To WA
Multiple Group 1 champion Soho Tribeca is set to continue his racing career in Western Australia when he re-joins Kim Prentices’ Bunbury stable today.
On the comeback trail from a serious leg injury, Soho Tribeca returns to Prentice for a second time after being transferred from Victorian trainer, Mick Stanley.
Soho Tribeca, a million dollar stakes earner, won the WA Pacing Cup, The Golden Nugget and Vicbred Super Series for Prentice before going east in 2018.
Prentice said he was delighted to be reunited with Soho Tribeca and is hopeful the bay colt can reignite and rejuvenate his zest for racing in Perth.
“Extremely, extremely excited and happy,” Prentice said on Tabradio.
“I didn’t think I would ever get to see him again.
“Mick (Stanley) hasn’t been able to get his health right.
“It’s been so cold and so wet over there and he got a lung infection.
“He is coming here for the warmer weather and hopefully we can turn him around.
“We will aim him up for the WA Pacing Cup and Fremantle Cup.”
Soho Tribeca, raced by prominent Perth owner-breeder, Rob Watson, was cut down in heartbreaking fashion in Queensland 12-months back.
Undergoing surgery for a broken leg after the Sunshine Sprint at Albion Park, the son of American Ideal was sidelined for the best part of a year.
He made his long-awaited return in the Italian Cup at Melton, but despite a lead-up trial win, Soho Tribeca finished a distant last.
“It was very disappointing, but there was obviously something seriously wrong,” Prentice said.
“They did a lung wash and he had a lung infection.
“He will have the rest of August off so we won’t see him until early December.
“He is one hundred per cent sound, it’s just his health issues.
“The leg has healed brilliantly and the vets are extremely happy.
“It’s definitely not a leg issue.”
