Upper Great Southern Hockey Association Awarded Community TAB Sports Grant
Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s (RWWA) Community TAB has awarded Upper Great Southern Hockey Association with a $2,000 sports grant.
The club will use the grant towards commencing a new program called the Wheatbelt Hockey Development Program and the relevant equipment needed to support this.
Upper Great Southern Hockey Association Development Officer Rodney Johnson said allowing players the chance to develop their skills means they will be able to enjoy the game better and compete at a high level.
“The benefit to our Association players is the equipment we purchase from the Community TAB grant will enable all of our players to train at a higher and safer level and the drills that coaches will be able to do will increase the knowledge of all players,” Rodney said.
“The Association is a social hub for not just hockey players but their families and friends and encourages the wider community to get out and socialise to benefit their social lives.”
“By receiving the Community TAB grant, it will help in getting high performance coaches to come to Narrogin to conduct coaching sessions.”
RWWA Chief Executive Officer Ian Edwards said the organisation recognises the importance of grassroots sport in Western Australia.
“We are honoured to be supporting local sporting clubs to ensure they can continue to play a vital role in their community,” Ian said.
“Grassroots sporting clubs not only provide important benefits for individual wellbeing, but they also bring people from the local community together.”
Applications are now open for all Western Australian sporting clubs, allowing communities from all corners of the State to apply for financial support.
Community TAB will be providing two sporting clubs with a grant each month, with applications able to be submitted here.
