Vale Harvey Crossman
Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) extends their deepest condolences to the family of Harvey Crossman, who sadly passed away this morning following a battle with illness.
Mr Crossman was an influential and much-respected member of the WA racing community, most known within the industry for his long-time service as the president of the Western Australian Racehorse Owners Association (WAROA).
Mr Crossman was one of eight to be granted Lifetime Membership of the Association.
In addition to his 13 years at WAROA, his time as Chairman of the Australian Racehorse Owners Council and service to the Perth Racing Board, Mr Crossman became one of the most recognisable figures in the WA racing industry.
Mr Crossman’s passion for racehorse ownership saw him establish the Lima syndicate with trainer Paul Jordan over two decades ago, which has become one of WA’s most successful syndicates.
FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, VOLITION, REVOLITION, CLARECASTLE and the runner-up in the 2019’s Group Three WA Sires Produce SPECIALISM were some of his most known horses. SPECIALISM was known to hold a special place in Mr Crossman’s heart, as he bred her out of his much-loved mare CLARECASTLE.
RWWA CEO Richard Burt, said Mr Crossman’s contribution to WA racing was greatly appreciated by the industry.
“Representing over 1,000 members under his leadership, Harvey and WAROA has played a significant role in providing thoroughbred racehorse owners with a voice,” Mr Burt said.
“Harvey was a passionate force, and his dedication and achievements will always be remembered.”
