Morgan Woodley, fresh from a driving double, is upbeat about the return of Quick Sunrise in the Sunshine Beach Mares Pace (1684m) at Pinjarra on Monday.
Now trained by Laurie Groves, the daughter of Washington, who has drawn ideally in barrier one, makes a welcome return to racing after a two year absence.
The lightly raced seven-year-old, who has two wins from 11 starts, last raced in 2014 when she ran third to Rycroft and Bhagwan at Gloucester Park.
Woodley, who won on Copagrin and Diamond Geezer at Gloucester Park on Friday, will partner Quick Sunrise for the first time in her short career.
The inform reinsman said he goes into the race with renewed confidence after Quick Sunrise ran third in a Pinjarra trial two weeks back.
“The query is it hasn’t started since December 2014, but she has a good barrier draw and it’s just over 1600m,” Woodley said on TABradio.
“The last half of her trial was fairly slick with a 27.6sec. down the back straight and 29.2sec. so they got home in 56.8sec.
“You would have to say with a little bit of natural progression and fitness off the back of that run she will have to go fairly close to winning.”
Woodley believes he can get the Pinjarra meeting to a flying start with Enemy Lines who can capitalise on an even field in the first.
“I thought its run two runs back at Pinjarra was really good,” Woodley said.
“I think this is only an even field and he gets a nice trailing draw (9).
“I think it’s a good each way hope.”
Disco Under Fire enjoyed a solid victory at Bunbury three starts back and with an ounce of luck he could be back in the winners list in the Shadow Play Westbred Pace (2185m).
“I have a lot of time for the horse and he is racing really well,” Woodley said.
“It looks a winnable race on paper, but he will need a little bit of luck.”
Disco Under Fire will start three out from the second row.
