Update: Mr Danny Miller – conditional license granted for track work riding
Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) has maintained regular communication with Mr Danny Miller (Snr) and the RWWA Medical Advisor in regards to his health and fitness throughout the 2017/18 racing season and since he was declared unable to ride as a result of medical advice in May.
As a valued member of the WA racing industry, Mr Miller’s health and well-being has always been the top priority for RWWA.
In consultation with the RWWA Medical Advisor, Mr Miller has undergone further and additional specialised medical testing.
Taking into account the results of these latest tests, and that the demands with respect to track work are much less physically demanding than the demands of race riding, the RWWA Medical Advisor is satisfied that Mr Miller is able to safely ride track work subject to specific conditions.
Such conditions are designed only to ensure that Mr Miller does not put inordinate physical duress on himself. For example, Mr Miller is restricted to track work riding for only his horses, his wife’s horses and his family’s horses.
RWWA is pleased that it is now able to approve and license Mr Miller as a track work rider so that he can return to riding horses at track work and continue in the industry he loves and has served so admirably over many years.
