The Ascot carnival is over for Chix Pic after he pulled up sore from his unplaced run in the Listed Fairetha Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.
After racing wide for the majority of the 1400m feature, Chix Pic, who was sent out the $3.40 favourite, ran 11th of 14 to The Velvet King.
“He pulled up a little bit jarry and he will go for a spell now,” said trainer David Harrison.
“The WA Guineas (1600m) is out and might have been a bit too far for him at this stage.
“Everything is fine with him and there are no issues, but I’m erring on the side of caution.
“It’s disappointing, but there is nothing you can do about it and you move on.
“He will have a good spell and come back for the Magic Millions next year.”
Chix Pic, a son of Patronize, is raced by a large syndicate of female owners and has accumulated $191, 955 in prize money from his six career starts.
Last season as a juvenile he flashed big potential when he won his opening two races including a maiden feature in the Listed Perth Stakes (1100m).
Harrison said Chix Pic was well on track to contest the WA Guineas on November 24 after returning from his two-year-old campaign in top order.
He won the Tabtouch Classic 3YO Classic (1000m) at Bunbury before a top second in last month’s Listed Belgravia Stakes (1200m).
