Crypto Deserves A Change In Fortune

Sarah Childs believes if there is a horse that deserves a change of luck then it’s her promising three-year-old Crypto.
In a sport where luck plays a big role in determining results, Crypto has fallen well short of it in his early racing career.
Childs has presented Crypto to the races three times, twice on his home track at Geraldton and one in the city at Ascot.
His current record stands at two seconds and a fourth placing, with arguably bad luck costing him closer finishes in his past two outings.
Crypto gets another chance to shed his unwanted maiden tag when he runs in Geraldton’s final meeting of the season on Thursday.
The Canford Cliffs colt is a red-hot favourite to breakthrough in the Congratulations Jade McNaught Maiden (1420m).
“He goes alright, but it has been frustrating,” Childs told The Races WA.
“He has been stitched up in a couple of his races.
“I feel like I have run over a Chinaman.
“I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself, but I’m confident if he gets his way he can win.
“I feel he is destined for good races.”
Crypto has drawn barrier four. Chris Parnham retains the ride.
Meanwhile Childs is hoping stable mate Black Dynamite can take advantage of the rail position when he tackles the Geraldton Stockfeeds & Pets Supplies Handicap (1120m).
Drawn in barrier one for apprentice jockey Kate Southam, the Alfred Nobel six-year-old is looking to end a run of four consecutive minor placings.
“I’m hoping because they have the cutaway in the straight it can be an advantage,” Childs said.
“He deserves it.”
Kintail finished strongly to win last-start, running on from the back of the field and scoring by a nose.
The Frost Giant gelding is after back-to-back wins in the Sky Racing.TV Provincial Championship Heat (1320m).
“The distance suits and he drops weight,” Childs said.
“But he is up in class.”
Kintail will jump from barrier 12. Jordan Turner has been booked for the ride.
