Young reinsman Luke Edwards is rated a good chance to launch the Northam meeting on a positive note when he combines with Absolution in the Follow Northam Harness On Facebook Pace (2190m).
The TAB has it as a race in two with The Art Form ($2.00), from the Mike Reed yard and the Debbie Padberg-trained Absolution ($2.40), the dominant market leaders.
Edwards, who has drives in the opening three races, is confident from barrier one Absolution can return to the winner’s list for the first time since April.
“This is the draw that he has probably been screaming out for,” Edwards told Tabradio.
“He has probably had to burn up in the lead time at his past couple of starts.
“It looks like he is going to probably get an easy lead time here.
“He has a big tank on him and I reckon he can roll a solid three or four quarters.
“I think he is going to be pretty hard to run down.”
The Art Form, to be driven by Mark Reed, commences from barrier 11 on the second row.
The son of Art Major is sure to strip fitter following a lengthy stint on the sidelines.
At his first run back in two years, The Art Form ran on for a solid fourth to Lincs Tiger at Pinjarra last week.
The Reed stable could also be stumbling blocks for Edwards and Padberg in the Follow Photography By Jodie Hallows On Facebook Pace (2190m) with All The Whispers a raging favourite.
Edwards says he expects Three Kings to be competitive from gate 11, buy believes All The Whispers has the advantage after drawing the coveted pole position.
“It makes it hard when you have the odds on pop drawn in front of you,” Edwards said.
“But his work on the weekend was very strong and I expect him to be hitting the line.
“He can definitely fill a hole and is a horse to follow.”
Edwards says You Better Watch Me, after three runs back, is building fitness and is an each way hope in the Sponsored Reinsman Chris Lewis Mares Pace (2190m).
