Reinsman Rob Abercromby and his trainer-father Craig combine in two races at Gloucester Park tonight, but they believe Iam Lambros holds their best winning hopes.
Rob Abercromby hopes history can repeat itself when Iam Lambros, from off the back line in barrier ten, tackles the Trotsynd-Own A Piece Of The Action Pace (2130m).
“He is quite a nice little horse, Abercromby said on Tabradio.
“Dad and I bought him from New Zealand a little while ago.
“He has been very consistent, but a few times he has drawn terribly.
“We’ve looked after him and haven’t given him a gut buster.
“The last time he drew 10 he got the money at Gloucester Park.
“Hopefully with a bit of luck if he gets out he will be coming home for sure.
“He is a pretty nice sort of animal.”
Abercromby has cautioned punters not too dismiss Major Mosby, who has drawn barrier 10 in the Book Your Xmas Function At Gloucester Park Pace (2130m).
Despite a poor win-loss record in the past 12-months, Abercromby believes the bay gelding is showing improvement at his recent starts.
Major Mosby and stable mate Marquisard, to be driven by Jocelyn Young from barrier 11, give the Abercromby stable a two-pronged attack.
“He is really starting to feel good and working really well,” Abercromby said.
“Everyone would have written him off, but from the barrier he is a sneaky chance to run a place.
“Marquisard is a nice horse who takes a bit of time to get hard again.
“He is definitely starting to come around now and has tightened up.
“He is definitely a chance at well.”
Craig Abercromby will unveil Springfield Hugh for his stable debut in race eight on the programme.
Previously with Nathan Turvey, the brown gelding steps out for his first appearance since March.
“It’s dad’s first shot at having a totter and he is going real good,” Abercromby said.
“He is definitely worth a forward showing tonight.
“As long as he gets away from the mobile.”
