Miller Predicts Bright Future For Archant

Aided by a well-judged ride from Mitchell Pateman, Archant scored his second career win and according to trainer Stephen Miller, there is more to come.
Coming out of a dominant Bunbury maiden victory (1410m) at Bunbury on November 29, Archant led and beat Fairedu by a neck with Arsinoe third.
“Since we put the blinkers he seems to have switched on a bit,” Miller said.
“He has always shown us a bit of ability and it’s good he has put a couple together.
“He fought on well against a good field with a couple of good chances in it.
“The best part about him was that he did knuckle down.
“I still think there is a fair bit of more improvement to come from him.”
Pateman controlled the race on Archant, a $42,000 yearling, who validated $2.90 favouritism.
The War Chant gelding absorbed pressure from Fairedu before the corner and kicked clear inside the last 200m.
“it was a good win because he did all the work,” Pateman said.
“He sort of waited for them in the straight, but when he heard them coming at him he dug in again.
“He just likes to do what he wants to do, but he is still learning.
“He still is immature and when he puts it together he will be a good horse.
“He’s going good.”
