Harness stewards’ inquiry – trainer Kendall Laidlaw (Nickys Son)
Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) stewards have been advised by ChemCentre in Perth that cobalt at a concentration in excess of 100 micrograms per litre, the threshold prescribed in the Harness Rules of Racing, has been detected in a urine sample taken from Nickys Son after it competed in and won Race 9 at Gloucester Park on Tuesday, 13 December 2022.
This finding has been verified by the Racing Analytical Services Laboratory (RASL) in Victoria.
Accordingly, stewards will inquire into these reports on Monday, 27 March 2023, which Mr Laidlaw has been directed to attend.
Acting under the provisions of Harness Rules of Racing 183 (d) stewards have directed that Mr Laidlaw’s licence to train be suspended forthwith pending the outcome of the stewards’ inquiry to the extent that he is not permitted to nominate or present any horses to race.
