RWWA Stewards today inquired into the report from the ChemCentre in Perth that the post race urine taken from SATANS EMISSARY after it had finished 3rd in Race 4 the XXXX Gold MS Pace (1730m) at Gloucester Park on Tuesday,1 June 2010 was found to contain diclofenac (Voltaren).
The finding had been verified by the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory in Sydney.
Evidence was taken from the trainer of SATANS EMISSARY, Mr John Filardo, his son and stable helper Mr Anthony Filardo, RWWA Industry Veterinarian Dr Judith Medd and ChemCentre Racing Laboratory Scientist Mr James White and Steward Mr Rhys Chappell.
Trainer John Filardo pleaded guilty to a charge under RWWA Harness Rule of Racing 190(2) for having presented SATANS EMISSARY to race on Tuesday, 1 June 2010 not free of the prohibited substance diclofenac.
In considering penalty Stewards took into account:
- Mr Filardo’s personal circumstances
- Mr Filardo’s previous record
- the seriousness of the charge
Trainer John Filardo was disqualified for a period of six (6) months effective immediately.
Acting under HRR 195 SATANS EMISSARY was disqualified from 3rd place with the amended placings now reading:
